Position Summary:
As a key member of our Payroll Team, you will be responsible for the complete, accurate and timely preparation and processing of our in-house hourly and salary payrolls.  This includes preparation of all government remittances, cheque requisitions, reconciling payroll and benefit accounts as well as year-end processing.
 
What you will do:
  • Responsible for the weekly processing of full cycle bi-weekly and weekly payrolls, following ICFR processes.
  • Work with payroll designates in each department/location to ensure information is entered and received timely and accurately. 
  • Enter, update and verify payroll transactions.
  • Record and ensure transfers for employees between departments and proper allocation of wages.
  • Ensure all court ordered maintenance and garnishments are processed and remitted accurately.
  • Responsible for all payroll and benefit payments and deductions in all assigned payrolls.
  • Reconcile and submit all payroll pay period and monthly remittances, completion of quarterly and/or year-end reporting, T4/W2 processing, taxable benefit calculations and ROE's. 
  • Provide support for monthly tax updates. 
  • Reconcile and prepare monthly benefit billings for payments.
  • Handle general inquiries, questions and concerns from employees regarding payroll and benefits.
  • Provide payroll processing backup for other payroll team members.
 
Skills and Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in Payroll, enrolment in or completion of the Canadian Payroll Association PCP program or an equivalent combination of education and experience would be an asset
  • One to three years related experience in payroll is preferred  
  • Experience processing a full cycle multistate and/or multi provincial payroll for 500+ employees
  • Strong customer service orientation and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under strict deadlines; proven organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Advanced knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office is preferred
  • Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and to converse in a professional manner and collaborate with all levels of the organization 
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and possess initiative to seek improvements
  • Motivated self-starter with capabilities to work within a fast-paced team-oriented environment
